The report's table goes from 70 to 72; there is no row 71. The 94 compounds listed add up to 96.10%, the share the report gives as identified.

† Five names are printed in the report with a number in front, the prefix at the end and “0.00” in the family column. They are shown here in the usual form, with the family left blank. As printed: “2.97 Methyl-2-butenal<3->” · “20.90 Terpinyl acetate<delta->” · “25.86 Thujopsene<cis->” · “27.63 Aristolochene<4,5-di-epi->” · “47.35 Dolabradiene<13-epi->”

‡ Printed in the report with “Aliphatic Ester” as its family. The report's family totals count it with the aldehydes, not the esters.

What this means

GC-MS separates an oil into its individual molecules and identifies each one by its mass spectrum. Area % is each molecule's share of everything the instrument detected. It is how essential-oil labs report composition; it is not a weight measurement.

Alpha-pinene leads at 54.44%, followed by camphene and limonene. The lab compared the whole profile with what it expects of genuine frankincense oil, found that it matched, and detected nothing added.

The report names the oil Frankincense (Boswellia sacra) and gives its CAS number, 8016-36-2. Boswellia sacra is the frankincense tree of Oman.

This report is for sample 250101JAL, tested on 19 February 2025. The oil on sale now is from this batch. Specific gravity and refractive index were not part of the test.
